FIGMENT NYC June 7th - 8th 2014 10am - 5pm @Governors Island, Pershing Hall In Figment NYC, Yasue Maetake is exhibiting a video and mixed-media installation Contours of the Wind. The handmade papers produced during her travel in West-Africa-Ghana, will be used as the screen for a video projection showing how these papers were used as kinetic sculpture, continuously fluttering in the wind and changing shapes with the echo of the local gospel music and natural sound. The viewers will experience the timeless interchange between the natural world around us and the technologies we have built. Yasue Maetake works in a variety of media including sculpture and video. FIGMENT NYC is a free participatory arts and creative culture event in on NYC’s Governors Island June 7-8 with part of season-long exhibitions on NYC’s Governors Island May through September.
