CoWorker Projects is pleased to present video works by Jesse Jagtiani on Sunday, June 16th starting at 7PM at Entwine.
esse Jagtiani is a new media artist and educator from Germany, based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work presents a journey through heterogeneous states of mind that provide variant apperceptions of identity. She creates conceptual socio-political-based work through a variety of media such as video, photography, performance, installation, and digital imaging. Jagtiani is interested in the mediated image, which she views as a form of memory that is an altered and subjective version of reality or as a modified reflection of the world. Her work provides the viewers with a starting point from which they can explore on their own the questions raised in her work. What each of us sees, we filter through our own particular psyche, knowledge and experience, which in turn skews our view of the real, rendering the experience as purely mind-constructed instead. It is when we are not exactly sure what to think that our minds engage on a journey.
Jagtiani is a co-founder of the media production company Rundblick.tv based in Berlin, Germany (www.rundblick.tv). She holds a diploma in Visual Communication from the University of Arts Berlin, Germany, a MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and is currently a doctoral student at Teachers College Columbia University, New York. Her work has been exhibited throughout Europe, the United States and Asia. For more information on Jesse Jagtiani please visit her website.
