CoWorker Projects is pleased to present the public premier of 16mm Negative Empire, 2013, film by Daniel Kingery on Tuesday, February 6th starting at 7PM.
Filmed in New York City and at the Empire Quarry in Bedford, Indiana, where all of the limestone for the Empire State Building's facade was quarried, leaving a negative impression of the Empire State Building in the earth. The Midwest is for many a kind of blackhole, yet it is mined for its resources which support empire and in this case created one of the icons of empire. Daniel Kingery is an artist, filmmaker and writer currently based in New York. Curating projects include On-Looking at Kunsthalle Galapagos, New York, YOU ARE FREE (with Julie McKim) at Kunsthalle Exnergasse, Vienna and Tape, Berlin and Waking the Dead at Autocenter, Berlin.
