CoWorker Projects is pleased to present Clichés #23, part of the video series by William Hempel. The Clichés project began in 2007 when Hempel returned to the US after nearly 10 years abroad.

The “dark humor” series is based on literal performances of common clichés in English. The videos are a combination of language, performance, and video, created as a response to mindless opinions, preconceptions, and dogmatic thought. William Hempel was born in New York and received his MFA from Pratt Institute. Since his first solo exhibition in 2005 he has shown in New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Beijing and Shanghai. His work revolves around ideas of language, culture and images in contemporary situations. He lives and works in New York City.
